Upon locating the car near Southwest Spring Crest Drive and Southwest 95th Avenue, officers attempted a routine traffic stop. However, the driver refused to comply and instead accelerated away from the scene, initiating a dangerous pursuit through residential areas. As the chase progressed, the vehicle careened through several backyards before finally crashing into a ditch, bringing the pursuit to a halt.

Following the crash, authorities quickly secured the area and took immediate action. The driver, identified as a 32-year-old Portland resident named Westly Deitas, was apprehended at the scene. Shortly thereafter, the passenger, a 30-year-old individual named Heamasi Mohulamu, was also located and arrested.
